English Proficiency Program for Afghan Girls.

Project Overview

The English Proficiency Volunteering Program is a collaborative effort to bridge the gap in education for Afghan girls who are currently unable to access formal education.By leveraging the skills of volunteers from around the world, the program provides accessible English language education to girls in high school and university level, ensuring they receive the support needed to excel in their studies and future endeavours.

Requirements for Students:

1. Age: The program targets Afghan girls, typically ranging from 12 to 20 years old.
2. Demographics: Focuses primarily on girls residing in Afghanistan, especially those from marginalized communities who are currently unable to access formal education.
3. Commitment and Determination:: Girls must be willing to engage in online learning and demonstrate a commitment to improving their English proficiency.

 

Program Structure

Class Size and Volunteer Assignment: Each class will consist of a maximum of  10 – 15 students, assigned to two  volunteer teachers. This small class size ensures personalized attention and effective learning.

Students Admission Process: Students will undergo an initial assessment to determine their English proficiency level. Based on the results, they will be placed in a class that aligns with their level, ensuring they receive the appropriate level of instruction.

Volunteer Requirements: Volunteers do not need prior teaching experience but must be fluent in English. Those who are also proficient in Persian (local language) will be particularly valuable for classes where students need bilingual support. Volunteers will receive guidance and resources to assist them in teaching effectively based on curriculum prepare by NSDE.

Volunteer Support: All volunteers will receive comprehensive support, including teaching resources and training, to help them deliver effective English lessons. For classes requiring additional language support, bilingual volunteers or a combination of English and Persian-speaking volunteers will be assigned.

Empowering Through Education: By improving their English proficiency, Afghan girls gain the skills needed to access further educational opportunities, both locally and internationally. English proficiency not only opens doors to further online learning opportunities but also equips them with essential skills for future educational and career prospects.
